THE HUMMING FOREST

In The Humming Forest, the audience embarks on an introspective journey. They are guided through a lush, living forest, moving backward until they turn to face a stark landscape where trees once stood. The empty field and disturbed earth embody the violence inflicted on this environment. Two performers—Britta, expressing through dance, and Anna, through sound—appear lost in this vast emptiness. Traces of the forest’s destruction are visible, yet it is the haunting hum that draws the audience into the space.

A powerful soundscape of humming fills the air, creating a palpable, resonant field that immerses the audience. This “carpet of sounds” blankets the barren ground, inviting a shared moment of compassion. It is an invitation to feel the weight of loss and to find a sense of peace with what was and what remains. As the performance draws to a close and the audience departs, rain begins to fall, as if the sky itself mourns with silent tears.
